birthday on the Kern

At the end of September 2009 I headed up to the Kern for a birthday bash:

This weekend was my friend Alice’s birthday, and to celebrate she invited all her friends out to camp on the Kern river. We camped at an undeveloped site not far from where I did the seven Teacups canyon earlier this summer. This is also close to the southern end of Sequoia National forest and we went to see the big trees at the Trail of 100 Giants. The river was beautiful and cold, which was nice since it was really hot in the sun during the day. We spent most of out time there hanging around, floating on tubes, jumping off rocks, examining the lobster sized crayfish, and eating. Anyhow, here are a few pictures from the weekend.
